New Canaan is a town located along the Five Mile River in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The town was established in 1801 and is one of the most affluent areas in the United States. It is home the New Canaan Station and the Talmadge Hill Station, both of which are Metro-North Rail Stations and travel to New York City is about an hour. New Canaan was an important center of the late 1940’s design movement and the film The Ice Storm was filmed in one of the houses built during this period.
There are many historical sights in the town, including the Landis Gores House and the Philip Johnson Glass house. Other attractions located in New Canaan include Waveny Park and the New Canaan nature Center. The average temperature in the town during the winter is about 30 degrees and in the summer the average is about 70 degrees.
