Bedford is a town located in the northeastern part of Westchester County, New York. The town was founded when twenty–two Puritans from Connecticut purchased three square miles of land from Chief Katonah in 1680 and was, at one time, considered to be part of Connecticut. Bedford′s climate is warm in the summer, with temperatures in the 70's and very cold during the winter, with average temperatures in the 20's.
The town is home to the Bedford Green, which is a small space at the center of Bedford′s historical district, and is home to a one –room school house, a small graveyard that dates back to the town′s founding and a couple houses from the same era. Many famous people, including actress Bea Arthur, actor Billy Baldwin, and comedian Chevy Chase, have called Bedford home. Each summer, the town hosts a music festival that is held at Caramoor Center for Music and Arts.
